Street Fighter V fans are going to have a nice ride this spring: TBS is hosting an Eleague tournament in Atlanta with $250,000 dollar prize pool. The tournament will feature 32 of the best SFV players from across the globe battling each other for the first place place trophy with live coverage on TBS and Twitch.tv.
The Eleague Street Fighter V Invitational will start at the end of March, and run all the way to the end of May with live broadcasts on TBS every Friday night. The finals match will take place on May 26th. Half of the competitors will be the top 16 in the 2016 Capcom Pro Tour, while the other half will be invited by Capcom to the tournament.
It seems that other companies are learning of Eleague’s success in running numerous CS:GO tournaments, including the record breaking Eleague Major in Atlanta, and other games are sort of jumping on the band wagon. This Street Fighter Invitational marks fighting games’ first step into the top tear eSports world, as well as futher popularizing eSports as a whole with the broadcast of games on TBS.
