Ulrich Alexander “Rick” Fox is a Canadian actor, retired basketball player, and eSports organization owner. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers. Rick Fox now own an eSports team named “Echo Fox”. On December 18, 2015, Rick Fox purchased the League of Legends team Gravity Gaming, and re-branded it into Echo Fox. In January 2016 Echo Fox expanded into Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and since then expanded to other games such as Street Fighter V and Super Smash Brothers Melee. 

Rick Fox is known to be an advocate for the legitimacy of eSports.

In the video above, Rick Fox said that he learned of the eSports world because of his son and he compares eSport players to basketball players such as himself.

Rick Fox isn’t the only NBA star that owns an eSports team. Shaquille O’ Neal also invests in a team called NRG and is also an advocate for eSports. Kobe Bryant has been said to also have consider to invest in a eSports team.
